Golf Course Hedges Planted This Week

Has anyone calculated how much our property values just went down by the golf course planting inkberry holly's to eventually block the views of the course? In 3 years when they're matured, we'll live in a golf course community where you won't be able to see the golf course. I've played hundreds of courses in my life (on the waitlist here) and I've never seen anything like this. You use vegetation to block the course from highways, major roads, commercial buildings, etc...but never from the internal neighborhood community. Had I known this was the outcome we would not have bought our new build 2 years ago. I think everyone has just lost a lot of potential home buyers because no other course in Georgia blocks its neighbors like this.

Fireworks Dos and Don'ts

Summer, what a wonderful time of year. It is an opportunity to take a break from school, spend time at the pool or explore and make family memories that will last a lifetime. One of the most fun summer activities is celebrating America’s independence on the 4th of July. Many of us grew up in a time with less regulation on fireworks, which allowed us to have bottle rocket and Roman Candle wars with our neighbors and some of us may have put large packs of firecrackers in mailboxes. But those times are now just a memory. As you walk through the grocery stores or drive past the flags at various exit ramps off the interstate in the coming weeks, you may be tempted to pass some of those memories on to this generation. The Indian Hills Civic Association would like to post a friendly reminder of the Cobb County regulations regarding the use of fireworks in the county.

Cobb County ordinance bans the use of fireworks from 9 p.m. to 10 a.m., with several exceptions per Georgia law. The exceptions are January 1, the last Saturday and Sunday in May, July 3, July 4, the first Monday in September, and December 31 of each year. On these dates, consumer fireworks may be discharged until midnight, except on New Year's Eve, when they may be discharged after midnight until 1:00 a.m.

Cobb County Ordinances - Article VII. - NOISE

Sec. 50-257 - Enumeration of prohibited noises (15): Consumer fireworks. The use or exploding of consumer fireworks between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m., except on the dates, and at the times, explicitly specified in chapter 10 of title 25 of the O.C.G.A. (O.C.G.A. § 25-10-1 et seq.).

Georgia Law defines general rights and restrictions on where fireworks may be used, and who may use them.
